The Board heard about an exciting professional development day, resulting in a District waiver day for September 28, 2012. OHP’s administrators, directors and staff will be teaming with other career centers across the Nothwest and North Central Ohio area for a professional development day, ConneCT.

“We were invited into the ConneCT conference by other career centers. This is an opportunity for our staff from the Career Tech side as well as academics to network with people in the same position in other career centers such as Apollo, Penta, Four County, Vantage and Tri-River,” offered Superintendent Jeff Price. “It’s going to be a great resource to gain new ideas for our staff to bring back into their classrooms.”

Shelly Swaney, Associate High School Director, reported programs are involved with multiple events. Several program labs are gearing up for competition season and engaging in student and career growth through tours and visits to conferences. Students will be participating at the Marysville Parent Night January 30 at Marysville High School for eight graders and their parents interested in Hi-Point and other educational opportunities.

The Board of Education recognized high school seniors Deanna Shaw, Information Technology Career II from Benjamin Logan High School and Nathaniel Hines, Diesel Technology II from Marysville High School as the January students of the month.

Director of Adult Education, Darlene Chiles’ report included news that North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) and Financial Aid approvals were received for new Adult Education program Medical Assisting and Renewable Energy.
