BELLEFONTAINE- Darlene Chiles, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Adult and Continuing Education director, received the William B. Ruth Award during the spring post-secondary Adult Career Technical Awards in April.
The William B. Ruth Award recognized Chiles for her “generous and enthusiastic service to Adult Workforce Development in the state of Ohio.”
Chiles, who will retire in June, has served Ohio Hi-Point’s district for 26 years, beginning as an instructor in the practical nursing program and as an instructional supervisor of adult education. Currently, she oversees the adult and continuing education program that provides career development and advancement for adults in six counties and has seen incredible growth and stability during her tenure.
Each year, one Ohio adult workforce administrator receives the award. Recipients exemplify the characteristics of Bill Ruth, a retired Ohio Department of Education supervisor, including hard work, innovation, action, a “fighting spirit” and a passion while developing the statewide adult education system for the adult workforce.
“It’s an honor to be recognized,” stated Chiles, “My goal was to provide the best education for our adult workforce that was affordable and convenient. Ninety-six percent of our graduates are employed and that speaks volumes about our staff and instructors at Hi-Point.”
Ohio Hi-Point’s Adult and Continuing Education is gearing up for summer courses including nursing, health information technology, renewable energy, business and special topic courses. For more information about how to register visit ohiohipoint.com or call 937-599-3010 ext. 1305.
