URBANA, OHIO……….Planning is well underway for the 8th Annual Art Affair on the Square, July 21, in downtown Urbana and applications are already being received according to event chairperson Sara Kerns..

Kerns reminds artists that if they apply by March 1, they will receive a $15 discount on booth fees.  Final deadline for entries is May 15.

Two and three-dimensional art forms accepted for the show include, but are not limited to: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, woodworking and carving, textiles, collage, mixed media, pottery, ceramics, photography, jewelry and other fine crafts.

The juried, invitational event sponsored by Monument Square District, Inc. consistently attracts more than 60 artists from Ohio and adjacent states.  They will show and sell their original artwork from the event’s signature white tents on Monument Square and North Main Street from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

While the juried artists market is the centerpiece of Art Affair, it will be complemented by other art forms with appeal for all ages: continuous performing arts on he court house plaza and throughout the festival area, book signings and displays of literary works by area authors, demonstrations, exhibits, special programming for children and guided riding and walking tours of the town’s abundance of 19th century architecture.

Restaurants and vendors will offer traditional, specialty and gourmet foods for eating indoors or outside at festive café tables. Offices and shops will display work by area artists in their windows and stores will be open, many offering Art Affair specials.

Also, displays and demonstrations by the “Up and Coming Artists” from local high schools will be ongoing during festival hours.

Children and their families will have an opportunity to learn about the fine arts and create work of their own in the children’s tent at the southeast corner of Monument Square. Nationally-recognized professional artists Mike Major will once again invite Art Affair patrons to his studio/gallery, 119 Miami Street.
