“Empty Bowls of Champaign County,” an event to raise awareness about the growing problem of hunger in Champaign County, will be held January 26, 2012 from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Sara Landess Room. The event, a fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign and Logan Counties, offers patrons a beautifully hand-crafted bowl and a simple meal of soup and bread for $15 per person.

All proceeds benefit the Food Bank, which supports 11 Champaign County member agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. The Food Bank collects, stores, and distributes over 526,000 pounds of food per year to these member agencies for distribution to hungry families and individuals throughout the county. All funds raised will go to the Food Bank to support these Champaign County agencies. Over 400 bowls have been made and donated by local artists. The homemade soup and breads are provided by our Sodexo Food Services and local restaurants. Many UU students have volunteered to help during the event. Please come and support this community event.
