The West Liberty Salem Tigers continued their work toward the 2010 football season as they played in two scrimmages last week. The Tigers hosted Kenton Ridge last Tuesday, August 10, and they then traveled to Clark County last Saturday, August 14, for a tri-scrimmage against host Shawnee and Thurgood Marshall. Tiger quarterback Zach Woodruff, who is entering his senior season, is pictured being tackled by two Shawnee defenders.
West Liberty-Salem struggled against both Shawnee and Thurgood Marshall, who both made the 2009 state playoffs, but the Tigers did have several highlights on the day, including a 60-yard touchdown pass from Woodruff to wide receiver Jake Anderson. Head Coach Toby Smith told the team after the scrimmage that the Tigers still have much work left to do to be fully prepared for the season. Staff Photo by Bryant Billing
