URBANA--Both the boys and girls soccer teams at Urbana High School earned their first victories of the season by defeating Southeastern by identical 7-0 scores at Urbana Stadium on Saturday. The HillClimbers teams were coming off close defeats at the hands of West Liberty-Salem earlier in the week.
Scoring two goals apiece for the Lady HillClimbers were Casey Cole, Allie Mackey, and Christy Finney, while Emmy Runyan contributed one score. Urbana lead 6-0 at halftime. Goalkeeper Adaleine Jackson recorded the shutout.
Urbana Head Coach Lance Jackson couldn’t have been more pleased with his team’s effort, “You always worry about Saturday mornings and being flat, but we just clicked. We were first to the ball in the entire first half and I was proud of them,” said Jackson. “It was a real nice first win for us. Casey Cole did a great job shutting down their big scorer.”
For the Head Coach Chad Wells’ team, both Brandyn Dunham and J.D. Lee registered hat tricks, while Ben Tracy recorded one goal. Two assists apiece went to Dunham and Josh Emory, while Devin Burnside assisted on a goal. Goalkeeper Dylan Souders registered a shutout.
