How this occurs everyday without our realizing it. An opportunity arises that may afford us a better income, house, car, and position and we quickly step up and into the new. Sometimes it is better to slow down and think about the offer on the table before responding.
Jesus set forth an example in the above scripture concerning being set in our eternal eyesight. He was sent into the world to accomplish a particular task that only He could complete. Satan went to Him trying to divide his view! If Jesus had taken the offer, His sacrifice would have meant nothing for you and I! Besides that, He already was and is the Master over all of the kingdoms of this world; even Heaven itself! So, in reality, Satan offered Him nothing! However Jesus offered the truth of the Word of God. I’m sure the devil tried to hasten the decision through pressure and cunning. But Jesus replied, “It is written.” This is our example.
When my children were young and wanted to do or have something they wanted it right NOW! They would be hyped up and asking over and over pushing and prodding me to give in and allow them to do or have whatever it was they were pounding me for. My answer was always ‘NO’ until they settled down and fully explained what they wanted. Sometimes my first answer was the proper and at other times I would allow them to do or have as they asked. But, when the pressure was on the answer was no. Even today when I am rushed I make a mistake. When the pressure is on – I stop!
This is what we need to do when something new is added into the mix of our lives. Stop and recall the word of God. Remember Him in all things; put first things first. Get the Rhema from the Logos to lead you through and stand on it.
